For my second learning project, I made an infographic using Piktochart. I did my infographic on Judy Garland's life in honor of International Women's Day because she is my favorite actress!! I would love to use Picktochart as a teacher to make infographics on topics, like the one I chose, for my students to learn information easily and in sequential order.

This is so cute! I love the appealing graphic design. Did you have to customize a lot to get it that aesthetically pleasing or was it pretty easy to navigate? The yellow brick road is so adorable and genius! I think your students would love this. Are you planning to teach younger grade levels? If so, you are right on track to teaching interesting topics in a simple and fun way. I think this is my favorite ILP design I have seen so far. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great!! What is using Piktochart like? Is it template based or do you build it as you go? I think this is kind of chart is really useful because it gives a really aesthetically pleasing representation of information where the flow makes sense to the eye. Far too often, teachers put out charts that aren't designed well and that really takes away from the students' ability to get information out of a chart. If they look at it and feel overwhelmed and it looks like something they can't read quickly, they won't.
ReplyDelete@SavanahHamilton Thank you so much!! I had to customize a majority of the infographic, such as the pictures, symbols, and color schemes, but the actual layout was already given to me so it was super easy to navigate! I would love to teach younger elementary students, so I'm happy you mentioned that age group would like it, that's definitely my goal as the teacher!!
ReplyDelete@NovaBurke Thank you too!! Piktochart allows you to choose a basic template layout or completely start from scratch. I chose the International Women's Day template, which sparked my idea for the project!!
What exactly is a Piktochart and what are the benefits of using it? I have never heard of Piktocharts until now, but it looks like something someone could create on their own using microsoft word smart art so I'm wondering what sets Piktochart apart and how it is created.
ReplyDeleteI love what you made, it was very easy to read and follow. The design was also very cute and girly. I like that you chose a topic that you had a personal interest in, I'm sure it was fun to make. I can definitely see how you could apply this tool in the classroom when teaching sequential/ chronological topics.
This looks great. The image flows really well and I think it helps that there are contrasts between each section. The different sections was also a good idea it helps show the different topics talked about. The images also help with recognizing who is being talking about and it was smart to put those images in the beginning. For students I think something like this will really grab there attention because of the bright colors and the dotted line that flows through the image.
ReplyDeleteThis was so interesting, i have never heard of Piktochart so i was a bit confused at first when opening it up and i had to present it to myself. What exactly is it used for and who uses it, teacher, students? The content of your project was short and sweet and I must say that I am a guess fan of the wizard of oz! What exactly would your students be learning about in school for this women to become a topic?
